Scheduled for installation in **2026**, the sculpture—titled *Intersection*—will complete the final phase of the area’s redevelopment and stands poised to become a new cultural landmark for the region. Biron was chosen through a Canada-wide, two-step competition that invited applications and proposals from artists across the country. A multidisciplinary selection committee evaluated submissions for conceptual strength, originality, symbolic resonance, timelessness, and the artwork’s ability to integrate harmoniously with its surroundings. Public input also played a key role: a 2024 national survey identified **History and Heritage** as the preferred theme, with **Peace** and **Respect** emerging as core values. Proposals were further encouraged to incorporate sustainable practices and recycled materials. ![unnamed (20)](https://knowledge.codaworx.com/hs-fs/hubfs/unnamed%20(20).png?width=960&height=621&name=unnamed%20(20).png) In *Intersection*, Biron envisions an artwork grounded in unity and connection. Two tapering, asymmetrical pillars—evoking shores, hands, or bodies—meet in a delicate lattice of floating “lace,” a visual metaphor for harmony, resilience, and shared heritage. The piece pays tribute to the ingenuity behind the iconic bridge while celebrating the communities it links.
