What's New and Different at CODAsummit Santa Fe?

CODAworx CEO Toni Sikes shares her excitement about this year’s annual gathering of the public art community:

1. Truly International — More Than Ever Before

CODAsummit has always attracted a global audience, but this year the international reach of our speaker faculty is extraordinary. Joining us from Taiwan is Yuling Wang of Blue Dragon Art, one of Asia's leading art commissioners. Huan Chen, CEO of Toquine — the world's largest bronze foundry — travels from China. Art consultant Carolyn Karnovsky of Artify Consulting joins us from Australia, and artist Gil Gatfield makes the journey from New Zealand. Rounding out our global roster are outstanding artists and thought leaders from across Europe and Canada — including our Closing Keynote Speaker, Marie Belzil, Creative Director of the legendary Moment Factory. If there were any doubt that public art has become a truly international conversation, CODAsummit Santa Fe puts that question to rest.

2. Roundtables: Bigger, Bolder, and Built by You

Year after year, our Roundtables are the most talked-about item on the agenda — and this year, we're giving them the space they deserve. Based entirely on recommendations from CODAworx members, we are expanding to four Roundtable topics and dedicating an entire room to this beloved format. Come ready to engage, debate, and connect:

  • Best Practices for Commissioners
  • Emerging Technologies in Public Art
  • Bridging the Gap Between Vision and Budget in Large-Scale Public Art
  • AI to Installation: Turning Digital Concepts into Buildable Public Art

These conversations don't end when the session does — they tend to continue well into the evening.

3. Best Practices: Our Industry is Growing Up

The growing demand for professional standards and shared knowledge is one of the most exciting signs of a maturing industry — and CODAsummit Santa Fe leans directly into that momentum. Several panels and presentations will focus on best practices, beginning with the Roundtable Best Practices for Commissioners, led by Anton Morton of Kasum MANIFOLD, and the panel Best Practices for Working with a Fabricator, hosted by Joe Richie of Demiurge. Both sessions promise to be among the most practical — and most spirited — conversations of the conference.

4. A New Partnership: CODAworx + SciArt Santa Fe

This year, CODAworx is proud to partner with SciArt Santa Fe, an organization dedicated to fostering the exchange of ideas between art and science. Together, we have developed a dedicated conference track — Coherence — featuring four presentations that explore the intersection of science, design, light, and consciousness. Presenters include artists Morgan Barnard and Andrea Polli from SciArt, alongside Claudia Costa (Spain), and Ivan Depeña, and Michael Wang from the CODAworx community.

5. Artist Showcases: More Talent Than Ever

The Artist Showcases, proudly sponsored by GGI, are the heart and soul of CODAsummit — and this year, we've expanded from 8 to 12 presentations featuring extraordinary artists from around the world. The depth and diversity of talent on display is simply overwhelming, and our attendees will be the fortunate beneficiaries.

We hope you'll join us in Santa Fe for this remarkable gathering — overflowing with creativity, critical conversations, and the kind of joyful connections that only happen when the best minds in public art come together in one room. 🎨
