Find & Apply To Open Calls
The CODAworx Open Calls Directory brings together opportunities from organizations looking for artists and creative professionals. Some applications are completed directly on CODAworx, while others send you to an external application system.
Find an Open Call
Browse the Open Calls Directory to find current opportunities.
Before applying, carefully review the full posting, including:
- Project description
- Artwork budget
- Location
- Geographic eligibility
- Application requirements
- Supporting documents
- Opening and closing deadline
- Any additional instructions from the commissioner
If you're interested but aren't ready to apply, use the bookmark option to Save the call for later. Saved listings can be accessed through your profile.
Know Where You're Applying
CODAworx listings can use two different application methods.
External Application
The opportunity is listed on CODAworx, but the commissioner uses another website or application system.
Follow the external application link and complete the process according to the commissioner's instructions.
Apply on CODAworx
The commissioner is collecting applications through CODAworx.
These opportunities are marked with an Apply on CODAworx indicator. Select it to begin the CODAworx application process.

Before You Begin
Review the deadline before starting.
Open Calls now use an exact date, time, and time zone. CODAworx displays the deadline in your local time zone so everyone is working from the same actual closing time.
You can save an in-progress CODAworx application and return to it later by using Save and Exit.
However, don't wait until the final minutes to finish required uploads or materials.
Complete Your Application
The exact application can vary by call, but you may be asked for the following:
1. Verify Your Contact Details
Your existing CODAworx information may automatically populate into the application.
Review it carefully and confirm information such as:
- Name
- Phone number
- Professional title
- Website
If information coming from your profile is incorrect, update it in your account settings.
2. Letter of Interest and Résumé
Enter your Letter of Interest in the provided field.
If a résumé is required:
- Select Upload.
- Upload the résumé as a PDF.
- Make sure the uploaded document is selected and properly attached before continuing.
Your Letter of Interest should explain why your experience and approach are relevant to the specific commission rather than simply repeating your résumé.
3. Commissioner Questions
Some applications include additional questions created by the commissioner.
If this section appears, answer each required question completely.
If the commissioner hasn't added custom questions, this step may not appear.
Add Work Samples
The commissioner determines how many work samples are requested for the call.
For each work sample, you may be asked for information including:
- Project title
- Physical dimensions
- Budget
- Location
- Completion date
- Image or video
There are two ways to add work:
Use an Existing CODAworx Project
Choose Add Project from CODAworx Library to reuse an existing project from your profile.
This is usually the easiest option if your portfolio is already up to date.
Upload a New Project
Choose the upload option and enter the requested project information.
A project uploaded this way is also saved to your profile as a Draft Project, which you can complete and publish later.
Add Team Member
If the application allows it and you are applying as part of a team, you may be able to add participating artists, fabricators, engineers, or other collaborators who have CODAworx accounts.
If you are applying independently, skip this step.
Complete the Legal Attestation
Before submitting, confirm the required statements about the accuracy of your application and the work or ownership information you've provided.
Complete the attestation to continue to your final review.
Preview and Submit
Before submitting, use the preview to review your application as the commissioner will see it.
Check:
- Contact information
- Letter of Interest
- Résumé
- Answers to commissioner questions
- Work samples
- Team members
- Uploaded files
When you're ready, select Submit Application.
After a successful submission, CODAworx will send a confirmation email. Your submitted application will also appear in My Applications.
Need to Make a Change?
You can now edit a submitted application until the Open Call's closing deadline. You do not need to withdraw the application and submit a new one.
