CODAworx offers a robust system for artists to apply to commission opportunities.

Viewing Opportunities
You can see a list of all our open opportunities here:
https://codaworx.com/directories/opencallRFP
When art commissioners choose to post calls on CODAworx, they have the option to send users to an external site, form, or email inbox- and just use the page linked above as a classified service. Alternatively, many commissioners opt to host applications on the CODAworx site.
Please read through an opportunity post and confirm the submission method before applying.
The remainder of this guide is for applications forms hosted on the CODAworx site.
Calls hosting applications on CODAworx will have an orange checkmark icon and text that says “Apply on CODAworx” on their card on our open call listings.
If you are signed in to your CODAworx account, you should see a visible and clickable orange “Apply on CODAworx” button.
To the left of the “apply” button, you can click on the bookmark icon to save the commission opportunity to your account.
After clicking “Apply” you will be taken to the first page of the application form.
Application Form
Special Note from Jan 9, 2025:
We have been getting many reports of an error saying that text that applicants put in form fields "appears suspicious"-
Our web team is working on fixing these errors and fine tuning our forms. In the meantime, we want to share with you text strings that will trigger the above special characters issue so you can best avoid them. If you take the following text strings out of your application form responses, you should have no trouble advancing the form.
1) "http://" or "https://"
If you are pasting any web links into the form, be sure and remove the "http://" or "https://". Leaving "www." in your response is OK.2) "And 1"
This goes for any number, not just 1. "And 2", "and 5" "and 785" will all trigger the special characters issue. Writing out the number "and two" can help here.3) "Or 2"
Same as above. Can also be "Or 25" , "Or 81" etc. These forms do not like combinations of logical operators and numbers.4) "Select a from b"
This is close to a database query and is blocked by our forms. This can also trigger if you say "Select poodles from dogs"5) "ANYWORD is not only"
the text string "is not only" triggers the error as well
If you have taken all these text strings out of your form responses, and are still getting the special characters error, please contact us at info@codaworx.com and we will be happy to assist.
First, you will be asked to enter your contact details. Information will be carried over from your CODAworx profile, but you can add fields like contact number, job title and website.
After clicking “Save and Continue”, you will be taken to the documents section-
Here you will be able to paste in and edit your letter of interest in a rich text box, and upload a resume with the button towards the bottom of the page. Right now, we accept resumes in .pdf format only, to make them compatible for all viewers on web browsers.
Be sure and check the checkbox for the document you are trying to upload on the media uploader popup to successfully attach your resume.
The next step is our new and improved samples of work uploader-
All required fields are marked with an asterisk. When you finish entering information for a work example- Title, dimensions, one .jpg or .png image, budget, description, completion date, and location. Be sure and click “Upload Project” after entering the info for each completed sample of work.
When you click “Upload Project”, your sample of work is saved as a draft project on your profile.
Usually, opportunities on our site allow you to upload up to five samples of work. Some calls may require more or less.
Next, you will have the opportunity to add team members to your application. This step is 100% optional, but you can search for existing codaworx members.
Next up, you will be prompted to check a box stating that everything you have submitted on the application is true.
After this step, you can click “Next” and preview your application on the next page.
Preview and Submit
Prior to submitting, you can preview your submission and see exactly what reviewers will see by clicking "Preview Application." If you wish to change any details, just click the “Back” button and navigate to the item you would like to change.
