Some Tips to Help you Get the Most out of the Platform
Tips for Industry Resources
CODAworx connects Industry Resources with artists and commissioners looking for specialized partners in fabrication, installation, engineering, lighting, materials, logistics, and other public art services. A few small changes to how you use the platform can make it much easier for the right people to find and evaluate your work.
Complete your Professional Details
Choose the Industry Resource specialties that most accurately describe the services you provide. These selections determine which searches you appear in within the Creative Directory, so be specific about your areas of expertise rather than trying to cover everything. CODAworx currently includes specialties such as engineering, installation, fabrication, and foundry services.
Keep your location information current
Commissioners can search CODAworx by geography, which makes your city, state, and country more important than they may seem. Many public art projects need local or regional partners, so keeping your location information complete helps you appear when commissioners search for resources near a project site.
Publish projects that show what you can do
Your projects do more than fill out your profile. Published work can appear throughout the Project Library and is searchable by factors including type of work, budget, theme, setting, purpose, medium, location, and keywords. Use your strongest completed projects to demonstrate the scale, materials, and technical capabilities your company can handle.
Fill out the project details completely
Don’t leave fields like budget, location, medium, or project type blank when they apply. CODAworx notes that projects missing information can disappear from filtered searches entirely; for example, a project without a budget will not appear when someone filters the Pct Library by budget. Complete project information gives your work more opportunities to surface.
Write descriptions with search in mind
CODAworx also searches keywords within project content. Include the actual services and capabilities demonstrated by the project, such as metal fabrication, structural engineering, custom lighting, artwork installation, glass fabrication, rigging, or conservation, instead of relying only on the project title or images to explain what your team contributed.
Make your profile easy to evaluate
Add a recognizable company logo or profile image, a concise bio, your website, and accurate professional information. When someone discovers one of your projects or your Creative Directory listing, your profile gives them the context they need to understand who you are and what you specialize in.
Use CODAworx to find collaborators too
Industry Resources do not have to wait to be discovered. The Creative Directory can be filtered by professional type and expertise, while the Project Lib can be searched by project characteristics and location. Use them to research artists, commissioners, and other specialists whose work aligns with yours and identify potential project partners.
This is much closer to what I’d actually put in that “Tips for Industry Resources” article: actionable things like Professional Details → better directory visibility, project tags → more search appearances, and complete budget/location data → not getting filtered out, rather than generic “build relationships” advice.
