For the first time, two major events celebrating the transformative impacts of public art will converge, and together are predicted to bring millions of dollars and visitors to the Cincinnati metropolitan region this October.
MADISON, WI, August 8, 2024- CODAworx, the leader in the public art economy, has announced the full agenda for CODAsummit: Art, Technology and Place In Collaboration with BLINK, October 16-18, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. This groundbreaking conference will explore the intersection of art and technology and bring together top artists, art commissioners, fabricators, technology companies and thought leaders in art and design from around the globe.
Renowned for its extensive online community of public art professionals, CODAworx organizes gatherings of key figures from the industry. The 2024 CODAsummit will spotlight artists leveraging technology to transform environments, communities, and attitudes about critical issues through placemaking commissions. In partnership with BLINK Cincinnati– the largest immersive art festival in North America– the 2024 conference will convene hundreds of creatives who are leading the way in using technology and data to realize outstanding, large-scale art– which drives visitors, dollars, and economic growth. Prestigious keynote speakers and panel presentations will share information and spark conversation around themes such as conceptual shifts in public art and impacts on urban revitalization. The event is envisioned as a combination of theoretical and practical approaches.
This year, attendees from around the world will convene in Cincinnati to explore how placemaking art can improve communities and lives. Brendan McGetrick, Creative Director of The Museumof the Future in Dubai, will discuss how experiential art can transcend traditional immersive experiences. Canadian artist Melissa Mongiat will speak of interactive artwork as ‘infrastructure of the human spirit’. Her art company, Daily Tous les Jours, is known for creating public art installations that blend technology, design, and sound to engage and connectpeople. Kristin and Davy McGuire will showcase their immersive multimedia installations created for major European-based consumer brands, illustrating the integration of art and technology in brand creation and storytelling.
Roundtable discussions will offer CODAsummit attendees more opportunities for participation in critical discourse. Public art commissioners and art consultants will share successes in f inding new funding sources for public art projects, challenging preconceived notions about feasible financing. Several ‘How We Did It’ sessions will provide practical advice on topics such as howto create a projection mapping festival. Panels such as The Reimagined Museum and Monuments as Collective Memories will invite expert administrators and outstanding artists to reflect on the impacts public art has on traditional art institutions and memorials.
CODAworx has also organized opportunities for conference attendees to embark on guided tours of the largest photography biennial in North America, FotoFocus Biennial, in the heart of Cincinnati and beyond. Artist showcases and industry presentations will demonstrate the full scope of talent and creativity at work when art meets technology. And because CODAsummit will take place during BLINK Cincinnati, conference attendees will have the opportunity to experience hundreds of art commissions in person. A special Meet the BLINK Artists! session will take place on Friday, October 18th with some of the talented participating BLINK artists commissioned for this year.
