CODAworx is proud to feature a spectacular variety of public art tours in the Washington, DC area as part of this year's CODAsummit. 

All tours will take place from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 24 and will depart from Arena Stage. Tours are open to CODAsummit attendees only, so register today while tickets are available.

The tour of Capital One Center provides an opportunity to explore Capital One’s campus setting in McLean, Virginia with its commitment to public art in public spaces, and how art creates an inspiring and stimulating work environment. Capital One Center  includes is the culmination of the company’s belief in the impact of the arts and a thriving, mixed use cultural and retail destination for the local community and the region. .

MGM Resorts

A commitment to sharing art with the public is a common thread at MGM Resorts International properties. The MGM National Harbor Heritage Collection features pieces from more than thirty artists working in a variety of media ranging from large scale sculptures and paintings to ceramic tile mosaics. The tour will highlight the commissioned pieces of local artists Margaret Boozer, Martha Jackson-Jarvis and Ronald Beverly with on-site discussion, while also experiencing the works of Madeleine Keesing and Sam Gilliam that echo the visual art movement of the historical Washington Color School, internationally established sculptor Alice Aycock, and threshold work by Bob Dylan of international music fame, plus many more. Moving Stories: Public Art, Partnerships, and the Metro Experience.
Presented by WMATA, Art in Transit at Washington Metropolitan Area Transit
Depart Waterfront Metro stop at 3:00 pm 

Discover how Metro’s Art in Transit Program collaborates with artists and national, regional, and local partners to transform daily commutes into moments of reflection, inspiration, and connection. This tour celebrates the power of dynamic partnerships in shaping public spaces, highlighting how Metro works hand-in-hand with creative and civic collaborators to weave public art into the fabric of transit infrastructures. Through these creative alliances, art becomes a catalyst for storytelling, placemaking, and civic pride. Stops at Potomac Yard and L’Enfant Plaza Metro stations, and Metro’s DC headquarters will showcase how thoughtfully integrated artworks enhance the rider experience and strengthen community connections across the Metro system.

Cultivating Culture: Implementing Public Art and Sustainability in the Golden Triangle

Join the Golden Triangle BID, the nation’s first LEED-certified BID, on an experiential walking tour of D.C.’s Central Business District to discover how public art and sustainability enrich urban spaces. The tour will visit the Golden Triangle BID’s immersive art experience entitled ArtAve., our permanent public art collection, rain gardens, and pollinator habitats.  Participants will gain valuable insights into commissioning and maintaining public art, planning and implementing green infrastructure projects, LEED certification, and creating inviting spaces that foster creativity, culture, biodiversity, and community.  This tour demonstrates how public art, and sustainable design can activate urban spaces, drive economic activity, foster community engagement, and create deeper connections to the neighborhood.

Southwest Stories: Public Art and Community.
Presented by Southwest BID and The Nicholson Project
Walking tour departs from Arena Stage

Step just outside Arena Stage into a living gallery of more than 50 public art installations that celebrate Southwest DC’s rich community identity and invite public engagement. Once reshaped by urban renewal, this multifaceted neighborhood situated alongside some of the country’s most iconic museums, is now home to a vibrant residential community, federal office buildings, and a thriving entertainment district. Expansive murals, expressive sculptures, and graphic vinyl wraps on nearly every traffic cabinet creatively transform infrastructure into artistic expressions, reinforcing a shared sense of place. Discover innovative approaches to reimagining public infrastructure, confronting urban challenges through design, and strengthening community ties through placemaking. This guided walk highlights projects commissioned by the Southwest BID, WMATA Art in Transit, and The Nicholson Project, and features work by artists such as Hou de Sousa, Rose Jaffe, Nate Langston Palmer, Tracie Griffith Tso, Sasha Primo, Hackreative, and others.
