Welcome New Public Art Agencies to CODAworx

Each month, CODAworx welcomes new artists, commissioners, and fabricators who are redefining what’s possible in public art. This week, we’re spotlighting three standout new members whose recent projects showcase exceptional creativity, craftsmanship, and community impact. From immersive installations to architectural collaborations, their work embodies the spirit of innovation that drives the CODAworx network forward.

City of Bloomington, IN

Urban Fabric by Project One Studio, commissioned by the City of Bloomington

The City of Bloomington takes an active role in supporting opportunities for its citizens to experience public art and other projects resulting from the creative expression of artists in public places of the city. In order to sustain Bloomington's economic and cultural vibrancy, the city supports public art and those who make it possible. Bloomington has a permanent collection of public art on exhibit in City Hall and throughout the community as well as an active mural program and a partnership with Indiana University. O.T. 987 was a recent project they did with German sculptor Stefan Reiss.

City of Sarasota, FL

14th Street Roundabout - Poly by Hou de Sousa, commissioned by the City of Sarasota Public Art Program

Sarasota's Public Art Program envisions a healthy and thriving community where integrating public art into City initiatives, neighborhood revitalization efforts, and private development is a norm; where every citizen and visitor can freely experience quality art and creative expression as part of their daily lives. The mission is to operate an inspiring and transformative program that implements quality public art through an equitable, accessible, and dependable process.  Funded entirely by developer public art fees—without using taxpayer dollars—the program supports the installation and care of artworks throughout the city. This partnership with local developers plays a vital role in bringing public art to life across Sarasota, ensuring it remains a meaningful and lasting part of the community. Guided by the City’s Public Art Plan, the program highlights a wide range of artistic voices, supporting local creators while also featuring national and international talent.

Fly Denver

Its Not What You Take, Its What You Bring Back by Thomas Detour Evans, commissioned by Fly Denver

The public artworks and temporary exhibitions at Denver International Airport aim to connect a local and global audience to the environment and culture of the vibrant City of Denver and the unique State of Colorado. From the huge blue Mustang sculpture outside of the airport, to unique exhibits throughout the terminal, to the songs of the Native American tribes who walked this land long ago on the A Bridge, DEN’s art scene offers a unique look into our world.
