Each month, CODAworx welcomes new artists, commissioners, and fabricators who are redefining what’s possible in public art. This week, we’re spotlighting three standout new members whose recent projects showcase exceptional cretivity, craftsmanship, and community impact. From dramatic atrium sculptures to eye-catching murals, their work embodies the spirit of innovation that drives the CODAworx network forward. Keep reading to see our selection of notable members who have recently joined the site:

Benjamin Heller

Ben creates site-specific visual systems for architectural-scale environments. The work is hard-edge, restraint-first, and designed to read at scale — closer in register to architectural collaboration than traditional muralism. Recent and ongoing projects span civic, commercial, transit, and educational environments.

piece by piece Uploaded by Benjamin Heller

Piece by Piece is rooted in the idea of improving a space that typically feels transactional and, at times, stressful. This mural is meant to interrupt that expectation. Built from distinct shapes that lock together, the work reflects structure, order, and movement. At the same time, the color and composition are used to create a sense of openness and energy. Something that softens the experience for visitors and supports the people who occupy the space every day.

Charla Elizabeth

Charla is a public artist, sculptor, and Professor Emerita of Art and Design at USC. Her work explores the relationship between nature, feminine forms, and the built environment through large-scale sculptures, suspended installations, and site-specific public artworks. Giles Miller

Giles is a British artist who works in surface, structure, and sculpture. Neuroscientific findings relating to biophilia, form, scale, texture, and colour set the sensory intentions of every one of his site specific pieces. Ongoing input from experts in the neuroscientific field inspires the studio’s creative direction.

Fractalism Uploaded by Giles Miller Studio

In Fractalism, a sculptural wave unfurls across the new Spur district building, offering a fleeting moment of wonder within the rhythm of the commute. Formed of thousands of aluminium petals, it cascades across the building’s corner like a metallic wave, catching light and shifting with each passing moment. As sunlight drifts across its surface, the sculpture awakens, revealing ever-changing facets of reflection and calm. Its form contrasts with the clean precision of the biotech architecture, adding softness, texture, and motion. And through its fractal rhythm, Fractalism transforms the urban environment into a moment of mindful encounter.

Vivian Beer

Vivian is a sculptor and designer whose evolving practice moves between sculpture, furniture, public art. Using industrial materials, digital technologies, and handmade processes, she creates emotionally charged forms that explore desire, identity, vulnerability, and the intimate relationship between the body and the objects that surround us

Protector of our Future Dreams Uploaded by Vivian Beer

Vivian’s new Chimera series begins with Protector of our Future Dreams, a dragon built from steel—cut, bent, formed, welded, and ground into a body that slowly emerges through the resistance of the material. The labor of fabrication became a way of putting empathy into an otherwise inert object, giving steel presence, personality, and life. Drawing from the Chinese tradition of the dragon, the creature is not simply a monster, a powerful, complex figure associated with transformation and the forces of the natural world.
