RADIANCE by Grimanesa Amorós Illuminates the LA Philharmonic

Light artist Grimanesa Amorós brings her newest large-scale installation, RADIANCE, to the LA Philharmonic from January 9–11, transforming the concert hall into an immersive landscape of light, energy, and emotion. Known for sculpting environments that blend technology with human experience, Amorós continues her exploration of light as a powerful connector—one that transcends material boundaries and invites collective reflection.

Inspired by Scriabin’s Prometheus: The Poem of Fire, RADIANCE functions as a spatial symphony. Light pulses, arcs, and unfurls throughout the space in choreographed motion, echoing the rhythms and crescendos of the music. Rather than simply illuminating the architecture, the installation becomes an active performer—an elemental force shaping how audiences perceive sound, space, and movement.

Amorós describes RADIANCE as an expression of energy and transformation, a work that captures the moment where abstraction becomes emotion. The convergence of music and light blurs the line between sensory experiences, creating a multidimensional dialogue between art forms.

With RADIANCE, the LA Philharmonic continues its commitment to commissioning boundary-pushing creative voices. For audiences, the installation offers a rare opportunity: to witness light not as illumination, but as a living, breathing presence—one that expands the possibilities of public art.
